With no deadlines to meet and a monthlong summer break coming up, NFL teams are in no hurry to formulate a policy on demonstrations during the national anthem.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Now that the NFL is drawing the line against players kneeling during the national anthem, athletes protesting police brutality and racial inequality may need to find a new playbook.

ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) — Amy Olson crossed paths with her coach, Ron Stockton, on her walk to the 18th tee at the Volvik Championship.

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — From across the diamond, Kansas City closer Kelvin Herrera marveled at the oldest player in the major leagues — Texas pitcher Bartolo Colon, who turned 45 Thursday.

FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) — Kevin Na stood over his ball after taking a drop in the rough beside the ninth green following two wayward shots, on his final hole of the day and with a share of the lead in the Fort Worth Invitational at Colonial.

HOUSTON (AP) — Golden State's Andre Iguodala will miss Game 5 of the Western Conference finals against the Houston Rockets on Thursday night.

RENTON, Wash. (AP) — Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Doug Baldwin had harsh words for the comments made by President Donald Trump regarding the NFL's new national anthem policy on Thursday, as players began to process the new mandate from the league's owners.

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) — Star second baseman Dustin Pedroia will be activated by the Red Sox on Friday after missing Boston's first 50 games while recovering from knee surgery.

CLEVELAND (AP) — Cavaliers coach Tyronn Lue was answering a question about Boston's defense on LeBron James during a teleconference when he tripped the security system at his home.

MILWAUKEE (AP) — Body camera video showing police using a stun gun on an NBA player over a parking violation is just the latest setback for efforts to improve relations between Milwaukee officers and the city's black population.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — Justify has begun preparing for the Belmont Stakes and pursuit of the Triple Crown with an energetic gallop around Churchill Downs.

TORONTO (AP) — The Los Angeles Angels are pushing back Shohei Ohtani's next outing as a starting pitcher to manage the workload of the two-way rookie, meaning he'll miss a much-anticipated showdown at Yankee Stadium against Masahiro Tanaka.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Pierre-Edouard Bellemare didn't know what to do as he browsed in the grocery store. Fans were admiring the native Frenchman and center for the Vegas Golden Knights, but he had become star-struck himself.

PARIS (AP) — Serena Williams and Maria Sharapova could meet in the fourth round of the French Open thanks to the draw on Thursday.

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump on Thursday granted a rare posthumous pardon to boxing's first black heavyweight champion, clearing Jack Johnson's name more than 100 years after what many see as his racially-charged conviction.

NEW YORK (AP) — Baseballs really have been getting extra lift since 2015, and it's not from the exaggerated uppercuts batters are taking, according to a 10-person committee of researchers hired by the commissioner's office.

NEW YORK (AP) — Chicago White Sox catcher Welington Castillo was suspended for 80 games by Major League Baseball on Thursday following a positive test for a performance-enhancing substance.

PARIS (AP) — Two-time champions Serena and Venus Williams will compete in doubles at the French Open. The American sisters were handed a wild-card entry on Thursday into the tournament they won together in 1999 and in 2010.

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump praised an NFL policy banning kneeling during the "The Star-Spangled Banner," saying that "maybe you shouldn't be in the country" if you don't stand for the anthem.

KIEV, Ukraine (AP) — Preparing for the pride and angst of watching Liverpool contest the biggest game in club football, John Henry is ready to take stock of the often-fraught, eight-year journey as owner.

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (AP) — The NBA is defending its quest to receive part of the money that states or gambling companies take in as part of legal sports betting.

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Travel problems have delayed the New York Yankees from getting home from Texas. Newsday reports the team's charted Delta flight took off after Wednesday night's 12-10 loss to the Rangers.

A look at what's happening around the majors today: YOU AGAIN Houston's Charlie Morton and Cleveland's Mike Clevinger get a rematch of their most recent outing when the Astros and Indians begin a series at Progressive Field.

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — A.J. Foyt still cuts an imposing figure around Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Everyone knows of him, everyone knows his record and it seems everyone here has actually met one of the greatest drivers ever.

NFL owners were busy handing out prizes at their meeting in Atlanta, doling out Super Bowls to various cities and giving Nashville the 2019 draft.
